Mużika Mużika hosted earlier this year the Festival Kanzunetta Maltija, which received good reviews from both local artists and crowds totalling more than 320,000 TV viewers over the course of three days.
Festivals Malta has been promoting the second edition of Mużika Mużika for several months since the agency welcomed submissions in July. Festivals Malta announced last Friday, October 15th, that the applications had officially ended, resulting in a total of 170 entries from local artists.
Raymond Bugeja, Chairman of Mużika Mużika, stated that an increase in entries was to be expected following the success of the festival’s inaugural edition. “The turnout for this year’s edition of the festival has topped that of previous year’s, reinforcing the festival’s relevance within the cultural calendar as it gives the stage Maltese music so richly deserves,” Bugeja said.
The Festivals Malta team will now go on to the second round, during which the submitted music will be judged by an expert panel. These will be narrowed down to 35 songs, which will then go through a live audition in front of a separate group of judges. Following that, 20 semi-finalist songs will be picked, together with the winner of the television show Mużika Mużika – Il-Vjaġġ Ikompli, to participate in the second edition of Mużika Mużika, which will take place between the 24th and 26th of March 2022.
Festivals Malta would like to thank everyone who applied for this festival. Visit www.muzikamuzika.mt for more information on the second edition of Mużika Mużika.
