Valletta is Europe’s fifth greatest city for foodies, and the second best for vegetarian cuisine

Research conducted earlier this month by Uswitch has revealed that Malta’s capital city, Valletta, placed fifth in the best ideal European city for food lovers.

Valletta took first place out of thirty other cities in research that calculated the cost of a meal when dining out in the city. The research also included the number of bars, restaurants, and cafés, as well as brunch, fast food, and vegetarian options. Greece topped the list, with an average dinner costing €16.62 and an overall score of 88.47 out of 100.

Belgrade, Serbia, came in second, followed by Sofia, Bulgaria. Albania’s Tirana comes in first, with Malta’s capital averaging €23.47 per meal and 78.73 overall points. Surprisingly, Malta came in second for vegetarian alternatives, behind only Belgrade by one point. Malta came in fourth place as one of Europe’s finest brunch destinations.
