First Serbian art gallery opens in Malta

– Biggest names in Serbian art history on display –

The weekend saw the opening of the first ever Serbian fine art gallery in the Maltese capital, Valletta.

At the ‘Serbona’ fine art gallery’s opening, diplomats Mr. Johann Baldacchino Romano, the Consul of Belarus and Mr. Vladimir Malygin, the Ambassador of Russia were present, along with local art lovers from amongst the prominent Maltese citizens who attended. 

In his address, the gallery’s director, Mr. Dusan Filipovic, thanked to those present, who had attended despite the prevailing pandemic induced restrictive conditions. Special thanks were expressed  to Mr. Johann Baldacchino Romano, the Consul of Belarus and the Consulate of Belarussia for their wholehearted support. 

On display at ‘Serbona’ are works by some of  the most important and biggest names in Serbian history of art throughout the last thirty years. The works on show  include those of Professor Dr. Dragan Martinovic Martin, academic Jovica Tomasevic, Damir Savic, Dragan Djakovic and Damjan Martinovic. 

Filipovic said that “ ‘Serbona’ is not just a big dream, it is a big step which leads us to closer, stronger and long life, friendship between the Balkan countries and this beautiful Island.” He added that  “If you ever get a chance to visit Valletta, don’t miss the opportunity to visit ‘Serbona’ as a part of Valletta’s heart. You will see another world through the eyes of artists.” 

‘Serbona’ is located at 14, Old Theatre Street, in Valletta.
