Outstanding success of President’s Solidarity Fun Run

The 12th edition of the President’s Solidarity Fun Run was held today, in a number of localities across the Islands

Unlike previous years, this year’s edition saw a departure point at 10 am in every locality for participants taking part in the walk in their own locality.

Organized by the Office of the President in collaboration with SportMalta and the Association of Local Councils, the Fun Run aims to gather funds for those who are going through hard times.

The country’s highest authorities gathered in Żejtun, the President’s home town, and walked together as a sign of unity and solidarity.

President Dr George Vella with family of Dr. Andy Ellul, the Prime Minister Dr Robert Abela fist-bumping the President, and Dr. & Mrs. Bernard Grech.

Prime Minister Robert Abela said that the annual Fun Run unites two important aspects together – solidarity and physical exercise.” The Fun Run confirms that faced with a just cause, the people unite and show solidarity”. He stated that the event in Valletta this week does not reflect the true values of the Maltese people, and that today’s activities demonstrated that when confronted with a right cause, the Maltese people always unite and show unity. Dr. Abela also stated that the Fun Run was made possible by the anti-Covid vaccination and urged people who have not yet been vaccinated, both with the dosage and the booster, to do so so that the country may continue to progress.

Dr Bernard Grech, leader of the Opposition and Nationalist Party, stated that the “Fun Run is an example of the Maltese people’s goodwill, demonstrating a strong country in terms of solidarity.” Before the walk began, Dr. Grech thanked the local governments for accepting the offer and responding favourably. He stated that the action exemplifies the goodwill of the Maltese people, who have banded together in their communities to demonstrate the country’s strength, particularly in terms of solidarity. He invited people to support the activities by making donations to those who are most in need.
