Local rugby player has successfully completed his objective of undergoing shoulder surgery

Local rugby player Liam Scicluna, affectionately a.k.a. ‘Il-Babaw’, has met his €4,500 target after beginning a GoGetFunding campaign to gather money for a shoulder operation and effectively garnering the sympathies of many across the Maltese Islands.

Scicluna took to Facebook to thank everyone who donated and shared his cause, as well as his rugby team Falcons RFC Malta, Jon Mallia for his assistance during his trip, the Malta Olympic Committee, and many more.

The rugby player finished his grateful post on Facebook by promising to repay the favour by becoming better, fitter, and stronger, and to represent Malta with pride. He earlier claimed that it is his athletic ambition to represent Malta, and after being exposed to rugby four years ago, he became hooked on the sport and eventually began to desire to be a member of Malta’s team for the 2023 Small Nations’ games. Unfortunately, an accident that resulted in ripping of the supraspinatus tendon and a probable capsular rupture put a stop to his ambition, and he began pushing for his surgery.

Thankfully, Liam was scheduled to have the surgery at St. Thomas Hospital on Saturday and would hopefully be able to return to the sport he adores in no time.
