Nokia selected by GO Malta for nationwide 5G deployment in seven-year deal

Nokia to supply equipment from its latest AirScale portfolio delivering 5G connectivity to Malta

Nokia announced today that it has been chosen by GO Malta (GO) as its exclusive strategic partner for a seven-year statewide 5G RAN implementation. The agreement will bring scalable, ultra-reliable, high-speed, low-latency mobile connection to GO’s consumer and corporate clients. The move will also help GO’s objectives to generate new business prospects through 5G networks by offering creative new use cases like digital automation, Internet of Things (IoT), remote monitoring, and ‘immersive’ technologies like virtual reality. In this expansion contract, Nokia is the incumbent vendor.

With the supply of equipment from its newest ReefShark System on Chip-powered AirScale equipment range, Nokia will consolidate its current infrastructure and expand and speed the deployment of 5G services in Malta. Nokia’s AirScale RAN portfolio, which will cover GO’s network statewide, is intended for seamless, easy, and efficient ‘plug-in’ deployment and lower power usage.

Nokia is a worldwide leader in 5G technology and has been GO’s trusted mobile partner since the debut of 3G in 2007. Independent accreditors have frequently recognised GO’s 4G mobile network as the fastest and most dependable network. GO just released its first Internet of Things (IoT) solution, which allows organisations to follow important assets in the field and use real-time data to guide smarter decision-making.

“GO is one of the largest investors in Malta’s digital infrastructure,” said Nikhil Patil, CEO of GO Malta. “This is another step ahead in our efforts to allow, enrich, and improve our clients’ lives by utilising cutting-edge technology with unlimited mobile speeds. We are thrilled to announce that we are now providing 5G services to our clients through our relationship with Nokia, one of the world’s leading 5G vendors.”

“We are thrilled to continue our relationship with GO with the introduction of 5G services in Malta,” said Tommi Uitto, Nokia’s President of Mobile Networks. Our most recent AirScale portfolio will support GO’s objectives for ultra-fast mobile connection, laying the groundwork for cutting-edge new use cases. We are excited to complete this project and introduce a variety of new use cases powered by our technology.”
